Hiratsuka is the fairy big city of the Shonan area in the south central part of Kanagawa Prefecture. We are blessed with a wondrous natural environment that manifests untold beauty and offers plenty to do throughout the year. There is the Shonan Sea in the south where you can enjoy beach sports, the two large rivers that grace the east and west, and the lush green hills in the west.

And the vestiges of our forefathers have fostered a resonant culture. What Hiratsuka is today has been built with the efforts of many residents over our 70 years as a municipality. There are numerous opportunities to experience the excitement of our home such as the Tanabata Festival that decks the streets in colorful bamboo decorations, the Go Festival connected to a professional Go player and local resident Kitani Minoru, the passionate soccer games played by the professional soccer team Shonan Bellmare, and more.
